Two lucky Powershop Pioneers have today won $1000 of credits to their Powershop.co.nz accounts. At 3pm this afternoon the credits were attached to their accounts.

The draws – for the months of March and April 2009 – were conducted this morning in the Scoop HQ by Scoop General Manager Alastair Thompson (pictures of the draws follow). A third and final draw for $1000 of free power for pioneers will be held at the end of May. But you need to be in to win.

Draw No. 1 – For March 2009 – Winner Brenda Leeuwenberg

Brenda’s initial response on hearing the news of her electricity windfall was:

“holy shit! that’s awesome!”

Asked for a fulsome description of her experience she said:

“Powershop makes purchasing electricity fun. Seeing how much power we use and having some control over what kind of power we are buying – plus being able to ‘store’ power for the winter – it’s strangely compelling and satisfying to see the green blocks of pre-paid power
stacking up

“Switching to Powershop was a painless and simple process. I live in an apartment and the only hiccup was trying to get access to the power cabinet for the building so that I could get the readings. However now that’s sorted it’s all easy. Powershop emails me each week to let me know how my balance is and I can either do something about it, or just let it slide over into my default selection – nothing to it!”

Draw No. 2 – For March 2009 – Winner Steve Withers

Steve was also delighted and said:

“I like Powershop because it’s fun, saves me money, enables environmentally good power choices and appears to have the potential to create a real market for electricity. I also like the idea of pre-paying for power, even months into the future, locking in my power costs. I know it’s in the bag, done and dusted.”

Brenda and Steve had the opportunity to win free power because they signed up to the Powershop Pioneers – powershop.scoop.co.nz – a special purpose blog hosted by Scoop for Powershop. The blog gas been set up to discuss the consumer experience of using the revolutionary new online power retail system built by the team at Powershop.co.nz and launched in February.

The readers of Scoop, Public Address and Kiwiblog have been invited to become Powershop Pioneers because they are unusually well connected, internet savvy and engaged in the online world.

There is one further $1000 power giveaway planned for the end of May. If you would like to be in to win you simply need to follow the simple instructions which follow.
